Public Meeting and Recommendation Report - Temporary Use Zoning By-law Amendment for 2512 Old Bronte Road (Palermo Pub), File No. Z.1431.19 - By-law 2021-019

1.

That the comments from the public with respect to the Temporary Use Zoning By-law Amendment application, File No. Z.1431.19, be received.

 

2.

That the Temporary Use Zoning By-law Amendment application, File No. Z.1431.19, be approved on the basis that the application is consistent with the Provincial Policy Statement, conforms or does not conflict with all applicable Provincial plans, conforms with the Region of Halton Official Plan and Livable Oakville Official Plan, has regard for matters of Provincial Interest, and represents good planning for the reasons outlined in the report from the Planning Services Department dated
January 26, 2021.

 

3.

That By-law 2021-019, an amendment to Zoning By-law 2014-014, be passed.

 

4.

That notice of Council’s decision reflects that Council has fully considered all written and oral submissions related to this matter and that these comments have been appropriately addressed.

For the purposes of Planning Act requirements, the following person(s) made an oral submission:

-     Wanda Crichton, opposed to the application, indicating concerns regarding notice, adequate services for residents in the area and wards, such as new libraries and recreation centres, as noted in her emails dated February 5, 2021; and filed submissions.

 

-     Mike Cairns, re:  concerns regarding density, height, number of storeys, views of Trafalgar Road, and compatibility with the area.

That the report from the Planning Services Department, dated
January 26, 2021, entitled “Public Meeting & Recommendation Report – former Public Works site”, be received.

 

2.

That comments from the public with respect to the Zoning By-law Amendment File: Z.1413.33, be received.

 

3.

That the Zoning By-law Amendment 2021-021, as revised, for the Town of Oakville’s former Public Works site (File: Z.1413.33), being an amendment to Zoning By-law 2014-014, be passed.

 

4.

That the respective notices of Council’s decisions reflect that Council has fully considered all of the written and oral submissions relating to these matters and that those comments have been appropriately addressed.

 

5.

That, in accordance with Section 34(17) of the Planning Act, no further notice is determined to be necessary.

The Mayor arose and reported that the Committee of the Whole has met and has made recommendations on Consent Items 1 and 2, Public Hearing Items 3 and 4, Discussion Item 5, and Advisory Committee Minutes Item 6, as noted by the Clerk.

NEW BUSINESS

(Emergency, Congratulatory or Condolence)

 

Councillor Knoll thanked Parks and Open Space staff for their work on ice rinks in the community.

 

Mayor Burton acknowledged Councillor Gittings and John Kay for their work on flooding Wallace Park ice rink.  Mayor Burton advised of skating safety on ice rinks and staying off stormwater management ponds and creeks.

 

Councillor Haslett-Theall wished the community a Happy Chinese New Year.
