Item 7.1 was deferred from September 11, 2023 Planning and Development Council meeting.

  • Recommendation:
    1. That the Notice of Intention to designate the Dr. John A. Johnstone House at 3048 Trafalgar Road under Section 29, Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act be maintained despite the Notice of Objection received from the property owner; and,
    2. That By-law 2023-122 to designate the Dr. John A. Johnstone House at 3048 Trafalgar Road as a property of cultural heritage value or interest, attached as Appendix “B”, be passed.
  • Recommendation:

    That the report from the Planning Services Department dated, October 3, 2023 entitled Update Report, Official Plan Amendment & Zoning By-law Amendment, Enirox Dundas 3015 Inc., File No.: OPA.1331.01; Z.1331.01 be received.

  • Recommendation:

    That the following recommendation pertaining to Item 4.1 of the Heritage Oakville Advisory Committee minutes from its meeting on September 19, 2023, be approved and the remainder of the minutes be received:

    4.1     Heritage permit application HP030/23-42.20K 212 King Street - Demolition of rear wings and construction of new addition with attached garage

    Notwithstanding the staff recommendation, it was moved:

    That Heritage Permit Application HP030/23-42.20K for the demolition of the existing rear wings and the construction of a new addition with attached garage at 212 King Street, as attached in Appendix B to the report dated August 15, 2023 from Planning Services, be denied, for the following reasons:

      1. The brick home and the wood barn structure should both be conserved.
      2. The views and vistas should be conserved.
      3. That an attached garage is not in keeping with the character of the heritage conservation district.

That the following by-law(s) be passed:

A by-law to designate the Dr. John A. Johnstone House at 3048 Trafalgar Road as a property of cultural heritage value or interest.  (Re: Item 7.1)

A by-law to designate the Ecclestone House at 389 Lakeshore Road East as a property of cultural heritage value or interest.

A by-law to designate the Robertson House at 330 Watson Avenue as a property of cultural heritage value or interest.

A by-law to confirm the proceedings of a meeting of Council.
